LESSONS LEARNED

Raegan came home from school the other day saying she was being picked on by a third grader in her 2/3 combo class. I've heard about this girl before because Raegan told me she's "popular". On the first day of school, my cute little Raegan went up to her and asked her if she wanted to be her friend... she said "no", laughed and went and told her entourage. Raegan moved on and went about her business. Through the weeks, the bully has teased and mocked her in front of friends and classmates. She even went as far as punching Raegan in the arm at recess. I consulted my wonderfully honest husband regarding the issue and this was our conversation with Raegan:

"She told me that she would bash my face through the window if I told on her..." Raegan frantically stated.

"Well... you go tell her that your daddy is going to kick her face in!" Jason sarcastically said.

"I will get into trouble!" Raegan replied.

"Whoa... we can't be beating up kids in our child's defense!" I jokingly brought Jason back down to reality, although the feeling was kind of mutual.

"Let's try this again..." I encouraged Jas.

"Okay... next time she says or does something mean to you... wind up your good arm and bawl up your fist as fast and hard as you can and pop her right square in the face!" Jason tried a second, valid attempt to resolve the problem amidst his anger.

"DAD! I will ABSOLUTELY get into trouble!" Raegan innocently replied.

"Whoa..." I tried to keep my composure as I held back the hysterical outburst of laughter wanting to come out!

"Try this one more time Dad..." I encouraged.

"Okay... seriously... next time she says or does something mean to you... warn her once. Then if she says/does something again, pop her in her nose as hard as you can! I guarantee she will never bother you again."

"Agreed." I stated bluntly.

You gotta do what you gotta do to stand up for yourself! We are definitely lovers and not fighters, but when something has gone on long enough, sometimes you have to take matters into your own hands!

i can't stop laughing at this! i don't know if she could pull off the punch in the face at school without some serious expulsion from school. but it would be funny that brat would learn herself good!
