CHRISTAMS CARD LANE

A new tradition Jason and I have started with the girls is taking them every
Christmas to see
"Christmas Card Lane".
It is so exhilarating and beautiful to see streets and streets of homes with different, animated themes and Christmas lights. People walk or drive around enjoying the holiday decor. Carolers sing with lit candles as they walk from house to house. Horse drawn carriages take spectators for rides. Home owners graze in their driveways with bonfires, free popcorn and hot cocoa. Even Santa and Mrs. Claus pay a special visit!

This home really does not give it justice...
but it was the only shot I had without strangers in the midst.
We drive so slow to take it all in.
Raegan and Kylee hang out the sunroof singing and shouting
"Merry Christmas!"
to hundreds of passerbyers.

Jaida was particularly excited to see Santa Claus!

Afterwards, we made a special stop to see the San Diego temple
all lit up in white with the manger scene.
Unfortunately, this year we got there just as they had closed the gates.
We took a few moments on the outside
but it was a bummer.
I guess they close earlier on Sundays.
We will know for next year.
We listened to Christmas songs the whole way home.
This experience truly softens our hearts and gets us into the spirit
of love and giving.
